Return Policy for Individuals
AHIMA accepts returns of eligible products within 30 days from the product delivery date. In order to be eligible for return, products must meet the criteria below:
- Return shipment is received within 30 days from the product delivery date.
- A packing slip, copy of order invoice, or order confirmation is included with the return
- Customer accepts responsibility for cost of return shipping
- Products are not damaged, and the scratch-off coating for access code has not been either fully or partially removed. *See additional details on damage below.
*Damage to products includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Highlighting or other marks
- Bent, cut, or torn covers or pages
- Other signs of use or damage such that the item cannot be considered in “new” condition (for example, a broken or worn spine).
- Missing components included with the purchase
Products not eligible for return: eBooks, custom products, digital access codes, damaged print books, and print books with revealed access codes, or access codes that have been redeemed are not eligible for return under any circumstance. NOTE: Returned products that are deemed ineligible or otherwise damaged (including damage during return shipping) will not be sent back to the customer, and no refund will be provided.
Instructions for returns:
- Please enclose one of the following with your return:
- Order packing slip
- Copy of the order invoice
- Order confirmation
- All components of the product being returned must be included with the return.
- To avoid damage during return shipping, please ensure the books are properly packed to withstand shipping stresses. Please package securely and include additional packing materials as needed.
- It is recommended that you use a delivery method that offers tracking services.

Return Merchandise Authorization for Bookstores and Resellers

AHIMA accepts returns of eligible products from bookstores and authorized resellers.
In order to be eligible for return, products must meet the criteria below:
- A return merchandise authorization (RMA) request has been approved by AHIMA before return shipment is received. See full details on RMA requests below.
- Return shipment is received within 30 days of RMA approval.
- Products are not damaged, and the scratch-off coating for access codes has not been either fully or partially removed. See additional details on damage
- The returned titles are in print, and returns are still being accepted for each title.
- The returned order is within the applicable return window, as outlined below:
- In-Print, regular titles: one year from the purchase date on invoice
- AMA CPT Code Books: Before June 1 of that edition’s year (ex: 2026 code books can be returned before June 1, 2026).
- The quantity of each title being returned does not exceed 50% of the quantity of that title purchased on the invoice for which the RMA is approved.
- An RMA packing slip is enclosed with the return.
Restocking fee: A $35 restocking fee applies to any returns of 10 or more items.
Credits for returned products are valid for two years from the date of RMA approval.

Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA): All returns must receive an approved Return Merchandise Authorization request before they are accepted. To request an RMA, email returns@ahima.org. Resellers requesting an RMA will receive procedures, shipping instructions, and a printable RMA packing list to enclose with their returns. Returns must include the RMA packing list and be received by AHIMA within 30 days of RMA approval. Individual RMAs may not exceed 50% of the original order quantity in the associated invoice, but multiple RMAs may be comingled in a single return shipment.
Damage
Damage to products includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Return Policy for Online Learning
All AHIMA Online Learning products, including online courses, webinars and AHIMA VLab, are eligible for a refund if cancelled within 30 days after the date of purchase.
Returned online education products are subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee. Refunds are not issued for any product greater than 30 days after the purchase date or if the customer has claimed CEU credit from the product. Customers who have cancelled their purchase will be un-enrolled from the product and will not have access to any of the content or related user data. Cancelled courses will not appear on the learner’s education history. CEUs will not be awarded or retained for cancelled products.
